About the cover art

The beautiful cover design of WA’s books was originally created for the Book of Recovery, the first book published by Workaholics Anonymous.

In 2004, World Service Board members suggested that three elements be incorporated into the cover:

  1. A symbol of slow movements (a snail was requested)
  2. A symbol of time
  3. The concept of spaciousness

What resulted was:

  1. the overall image of a nautilus shell (home to the sea snail)
  2. the sun, moon and stars (symbols of time) incorporated in the central circle of the nautilus, with stars placed on the circle of the sun in analog clock position
  3. spaciousness denoted in the central circle – looking out to the galaxies, beyond, and the swirls of the nautilus shell as they expand outward

Warm appreciation is extended to the artist, a WA member.
